Royal Tank Regiment during World War II.  Joined up February 1942. Trained and went to the Middle East for Battle of Alamein. Then posted to Nottinghamshire Sherewood Rangers Yeomanry. Went trhough to Tunis driving a Gen. Grant Tank and home for Christmas 1943. Did training at Chipenham in Wiltshire on Duplex Drive Shermans (swimming tanks). Went to Fawley near Southampton in June. Took part in the ‘D Day’ landings in Normandy. Tank was blown up. Badly burned. Warwick hospital for 12 weeks. Rejoined his regiment for the remainder of the war.
